xWave Technologies, a leading provider of AI-powered clinical decision support and diagnostic workflow optimisation solutions, is proud to announce its next phase of growth by formally announcing its partnership and collaboration as a supplier with the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Radiologists (RANZCR), unveiled at the RANZCR Annual Scientific Meeting (ASM) 2025.

As part of this year’s ASM, xWave is introducing the integration of RANZCR’s iRefer guidelines into its CDS platform - a milestone that brings region-specific, evidence-based imaging recommendations directly into clinical workflows across Australia and New Zealand. This enhancement empowers clinicians to confidently select the most appropriate imaging investigation for each patient, improving diagnostic accuracy and reducing unnecessary imaging.

With RANZCR iRefer embedded into xWave’s platform, referrers can access localised guidance in real time at the point of care, supporting the principle of “Best Test First.” This ensures that imaging decisions are not only clinically sound but also aligned with the standards and expectations of healthcare systems in the region.

“Our mission is to help clinicians deliver the best test, for the right patient, at the right time,” said Stefan McDonald, Chief Growth Officer at xWave Technologies. “Supported by xWave Refer to guide accurate and complete referrals, xWave Vetting to bring structure and consistency to clinical approvals, and xWave Insight to provide data-driven feedback and continuous learning; xWave CDS delivers evidence-based clinical decision support directly at the point of care. Now integrated with RANZCR iRefer - we’re helping healthcare providers make better decisions, streamline workflows, and align imaging choices to the specific needs of Australian and New Zealand healthcare systems.

Beyond guideline delivery, the xWave platform offers robust clinical audit and vetting capabilities that help health services monitor referral patterns, assess appropriateness, and drive continuous quality improvement. xWave solutions  provide visibility into guideline adherence and streamline collaboration between referrers and radiologists, strengthening diagnostic stewardship and supporting safer, more consistent care.

The integration of iRefer represents the first step in a broader strategy to deliver an end-to-end decision support ecosystem, from referral to reporting. By combining guideline-driven support with audit and vetting tools, xWave is helping healthcare organisations across Australia and New Zealand reduce variation, enhance value-based care, and improve patient outcomes.
