Welcoming Patrick to our team!
Due to the growing demand for our AI‑driven product suite and the rapid traction we’re seeing across clinical and operational teams, we’re delighted to welcome Patrick as xWave’s new Head of Engineering. His appointment marks an important step in scaling our technology organisation as we enter the next phase of growth.
Paddy is a seasoned engineering leader with deep experience building and scaling products across cloud, AI, and platform engineering. Over the past 15 years, he has held senior and principal roles at Pluralsight, A Cloud Guru, Sportsbet, and Paddy Power Betfair, where he specialised in architecting resilient systems, accelerating product delivery, and mentoring high‑performing teams. He also brings hands‑on startup experience from the AI creator‑tools space, leading development across generative AI, retrieval‑augmented generation, and production‑grade LLM integrations - delivering real, scalable products used in the wild.
“I’m delighted to be part of a company that’s using thoughtful technology to support clinicians and improve care pathways. Building products that can genuinely help people is a privilege, and I’m excited to contribute to that mission.”
His technical background spans distributed systems, cloud‑native architectures (particularly AWS), and large‑scale software delivery, and he has guided engineering teams through major technical transformations. Paddy holds both a BSc in Computer Science & Software Engineering and an MSc by Research in Computer Science from the National University of Ireland, Maynooth.
What sets Paddy apart is not just his technical depth but his approach to engineering leadership. He’s passionate about technical strategy, hands‑on problem solving, and creating high‑trust environments where teams can do their best work. He’s energised by the craft of building reliable systems, exploring how AI can meaningfully enhance clinical and operational workflows, and supporting engineers as they navigate complexity. Outside of work, he enjoys experimenting with new technologies, diving into AI side‑projects, and balancing screen time with family, dogs, and the occasional coding adventure.
Curious, collaborative, and committed to continuous improvement, Paddy is excited to join xWave at such a pivotal moment. His experience in AI development, cloud engineering, and team leadership will play a central role in shaping and scaling the next chapter of our product and platform growth.
